Court Sacks Ekiti PDP Caretaker Committee, Reinstates Engr Alaba Agboola-led State Exco

The High Court of Ekiti State presided over by Honourable Justice O. I. O. Ogunyemi in the judgment delivered on Monday, 4th December, 2023 declared null and void, the dissolution of the Ekiti State Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party by the National Working Committee of the party on 8th June, 2023.

The court subsequently sacked the caretaker committee appointed by the National Working Committee of the PDP after illegal dissolution of the state exco..

The trial Judge further granted an order of perpetual injunction restraining Umariliya Damagun (Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), (1st and 2nd Defendants), their agents or any person or body of persons acting pursuant to the directives or instruction of the 1st and 2nd Defendants from recognizing or further recognizing the 3rd Defendant (Arch. Sadiq Obanoye) and the other members of the Ekiti State PDP caretaker committee as persons entitled to the affairs of the Ekiti State chapter of the party.

Finally, the court granted an order of perpetual injunction retraining Arch. Sadiq Obanoye (3rd Defendant) and other members of the Ekiti State PDP Caretaker Committee from parading themselves as Ekiti State caretaker committee of the Peoples Democratic Party as well as running the affairs of the Ekiti State Chapter of the party.
