February 3, 2024 2 min read

Desmond Elliot, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly has urged residents of the state to be hopeful and focus on national development as Nigeria would overcome its challenges soon.

Elliott, APC lawmaker, representing Surulere State Constituency 1, advised while casting his votes on Saturday at Ward 06 Unit 20, Gbaja/Stadium in Surulere Local Government Area of Lagos State.

According to him, though the country was going through some challenges as things were tough and rough, but we must be hopeful for a better tomorrow.

“We urge residents to come out en- masse to exercise their franchise which is their civic duty for the country.”

He said that there was need for all Nigerians to support the APC controlled government to turn the fortunes of the country around.

He said President Bola Tinubu would bring his experiences to bear in turning the nation’s challenges to gains, noting that a lot was being done already in that regard.

Elliot noted that in no distant time, Nigerians would begin to see the gains of the present administration with current policies being implemented.

On the by-election, the lawmaker said that APC has no competition in Surulere, because of the performance of the former speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, who represented the Federal Constituency.

“Gbajabiamila’s performance is unrivalled. APC will win this election based on performance,’)” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 12 political parties are contesting for the seat left by Gbajabiamila.

The seat became vacant following the resignation of Gbajabiamila after he was appointed Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
