Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has decided to rename the University of Maiduguri, located in Borno State, after former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The announcement came during an expanded meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday.

The purpose of the special session was to honor the legacy of the former Nigerian leader.

At the conclusion of the FEC meeting, President Tinubu proposed the renaming of the institution to Muhammadu Buhari University, Maiduguri.

This suggestion was met with applause from attendees, including ministers who had served under Buhari’s administration and his son, Yusuf Buhari.
