Breaking: Tensions rise in Warri as military confronts protesting youths

A standoff has erupted in Warri, Delta State, between Nigerian Army personnel and peaceful protesting youths at the entrance of the Nigerian Gas Company, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), at Ubeji junction.

According to sources, the protesting youths are demanding action over a perceived bias in the ward delineation proposal released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) last week.

This group is showing solidarity with another set of youths who have been camped at the entrance of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Warri since last week.
