Nigeria’s women’s football team, the Super Falcons, has clinched a record-extending 10th Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title after a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over host nation Morocco in the final.

The match, played at the Rabat Olympic Stadium, saw the Super Falcons stage an incredible second-half turnaround to snatch the title.

Under the leadership of captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who was named the TotalEnergies AFCON Women’s Player of the Tournament, the Super Falcons showed remarkable resilience and determination. Despite trailing 2-0, the Nigerian team rallied in the second half to secure a 3-2 win, sending their small contingent of fans into raptures.

The victory marked a historic moment for Nigerian football, with the Super Falcons cementing their dominance in the WAFCON competition.

The team’s head coach, Randy Waldrum, praised his players’ mental toughness and ability to turn the game around in the face of adversity.

The final match was a closely contested affair, with both teams creating scoring opportunities.

However, it was the Super Falcons who ultimately emerged victorious, thanks to their determination and skill. .

As the Super Falcons celebrated their victory, the Moroccan team and their fans were left stunned and disappointed.

Despite having the support of their home crowd, the Atlas Lionesses were unable to hold on to their lead and ultimately fell short.

The 2024 Women’s WAFCON will be remembered for the incredible performances of the Super Falcons, and Rasheedat Ajibade’s outstanding tournament in the tournament.
