Breaking: Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde loses elder brother at 65

The Oyo State Government has announced the passing of Engineer Sunday Makinde, the eldest brother of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Engineer Makinde, 65, died on Friday, January 24, 2025, at his Ibadan residence.

Chief Olumuyiwa Makinde, the Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland and Head of Aigbofa Family of Oja’ba, Ibadan, confirmed the news in a statement. “With a heavy heart, I announce the passage of my older brother, Engr Sunday Makinde, to eternal glory today, Friday 24th of January 2025,” he said.

Engineer Makinde’s sudden death occurred at 3:20 am at his residence.

He is survived by his siblings, including Governor Seyi Makinde, as well as children and grandchildren.

Condolences have started pouring in, with Rep. Oseni sending messages of condolence to Governor Makinde.
