Nigerian social media personality, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has filed a N1 billion defamation lawsuit against internet activist and influencer, VeryDarkMan (VDM).

The lawsuit stems from VDM’s sharing of a voice recording allegedly implicating Bobrisky in bribing Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials with N15 million to drop money laundering charges.

VDM shared a voice recording purporting to be Bobrisky admitting to bribery while Bobrisky denies the allegations, claiming the recording was AI-generated.

However, Bobrisky’s lawyers demand N1 billion in damages and a written/video apology within 24 hours.

In a letter shared on social media, Bobrisky’s lawyers stated, “Our client denies the false and malicious allegations… The voice recording was fabricated using AI technology to tarnish our client’s reputation.”

The lawsuit filed accuses VDM of defamation, intentional harm to Bobrisky’s character, and reputational damage.

Bobrisky’s counsel emphasized, “We will vigorously pursue this matter to protect our client’s rights and reputation.”

VeryDarkMan has not publicly responded to the lawsuit.
