Bandits who attacked the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, have demanded a total ransom of ₦3.8 billion for the release of 38 abducted worshippers.

The victims were seized during an attack on the church on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in which several people were also injured. According to local sources, the kidnappers have contacted the families of the abductees using the victims’ mobile phones.

The attackers reportedly grouped the abducted worshippers according to their families and placed a ransom demand of ₦100 million per person. Community members confirmed that negotiations have not yet yielded any breakthrough.

Security operatives, including the military and police, have been deployed to the area, while search-and-rescue operations are ongoing. The Kwara State Government has also shut down some schools in the affected communities as a precautionary measure.

Authorities have called for calm and assured residents that efforts are underway to secure the safe return of the abducted worshippers.
