The Nigerian Army has recorded significant gains in ongoing counterinsurgency and anti-crime operations, rescuing 21 kidnapped victims and disrupting terror activities across several regions within the last 24 hours.

A reliable military source at the Army Headquarters told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that troops have sustained aggressive operations across multiple theatres, leading to the latest breakthroughs.

According to the source, troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Zamfara and Kebbi States repelled coordinated attacks, rescued civilians and responded swiftly to fresh threats.

β€œIn Maradun, troops of 1 Brigade engaged terrorists who attacked the Baigasuwa community, rescuing residents, though four civilians sustained gunshot injuries,” the source said.

He added that troops also thwarted attempted attacks on nearby settlements, forcing the armed groups to retreat under heavy fire.

The Army’s operations, the source noted, are part of intensified efforts to restore safety in communities affected by banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities.
