The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers has called on President Ahmed Tinubu to declare a state of emergency to forestall further killings and disturbances in the state.

Rivers APC Caretaker Committee Chairman (CTC), Tony Okocha, made the call shortly after the swearing-in of 23 CTC chairmen by Governor Siminialayi Fubara on Wednesday.

The party also distanced itself from a statement credited to the former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, that 84 per cent of Nigerians would not vote for Tinubu in 2027.
