Anambra Govt Demands N50m from Presidential Candidates, N20m from Senatorial Hopefuls Just to Campaign – Is Democracy Now for Sale?

The Anambra State Government has unveiled permit fees for political campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections. Under the new directive, a presidential candidate will pay N50 million, while a senatorial candidate will be charged N20 million for outdoor campaign activities. The state government is yet to release further details on the permit fees for other elective positions.
