Afenifere: University of Ibadan receives N2M in scholarship to support Yoruba history project

The University of Ibadan has received a donation of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000.00) from the Afenifere North America Branch to support academic excellence in the Department of History.

The donation will be used to institute a Prize in Perpetuity for the Best Final Year History Project in Yoruba History, as well as an Annual Scholarship.

According to the University Management, the donation will be awarded to two recipients for a period of two years, with each recipient receiving One Million Naira (N1,000,000.00) annually.

The donors have requested that the amount be awarded to two recipients in 2025 and 2026.

The University Management has expressed its gratitude to the Afenifere North America Branch for their interest in promoting academic excellence in the Department of History.

The donation is seen as a significant contribution to the University’s efforts to promote academic excellence and research in Yoruba History.

The University of Ibadan is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in Nigeria, with a strong reputation for academic excellence and research.

The donation from the Afenifere North America Branch is part of the vision of the group to promote academic excellence and research in various fields, especially in Yoruba history.

In a related development, Afenifere North America Branch has established a scholarship fund in the University of Ibadan for the best graduating student of Yoruba descent.

The award is N1 million starting from 2025, with an initial duration of two years.

However, the group revealed that the award will extend beyond the initial two years.

The President of Afenifere North America, Dr. Durojaiye Akindutire, stated that Afenifere North America is a branch of Afenifere Worldwide, which is under the leadership of Pa Fasoranti.
