A 22-year-old Islamic teacher, Malam Idris Abubakar, has been apprehended by the Nigerian police in Adamawa State for allegedly engaging in homosexual activities with two of his students.

According to reports, the pupils, aged 12 and 10, revealed to authorities that Abubakar exploited them during private lessons and domestic work at his residence in Gaya Ward, Mubi South Local Government Area.

The victims narrated that Abubakar would have them massage his body before committing the alleged acts.

Fearful of repercussions, the boys kept the abuse hidden until one of their mothers noticed her son’s frequent stomachaches and purging.

Investigating further, she discovered the truth and promptly reported the incident to the police, leading to Abubakar’s arrest.

During questioning, Abubakar denied the allegations of homosexuality, admitting only to employing the boys for domestic tasks.

The Adamawa State Police Commissioner has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter.

“The Commissioner of Police has directed a full-scale investigation into the matter,” said Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Nguroje. “The suspect will be taken to court for due legal process.”

The incident has sparked concern among parents and community members, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and protection for children against exploitation and abuse.

The police are urging anyone with information or concerns to come forward and cooperate with the investigation.
