Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has announced a ₦50 million support package for the Super Falcons ahead of their crucial second-leg 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against the Amazons of Benin Republic in Abeokuta.

Abiodun made the announcement when he received the female national football team at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Monday.

In a post shared via his official Facebook page on Tuesday, the governor expressed delight at hosting the Super Falcons and commended them for their remarkable performances on the continent.

“We were delighted to receive the Super Falcons of Nigeria in our office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, ahead of their second-leg WAFCON 2026 qualifier against the Amazons of Benin Republic.

“In recognition of their inspiring performances and to further motivate them for the task ahead, we announced a support package of ₦50 million to the team,” he stated.

The governor also noted that the Falcons’ return to the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta, was a testament to the state’s growing investment in sports development.

“Their return to the MKO Abiola International Stadium is a validation that we are doing something right in Ogun State,” Abiodun added.

He further disclosed plans to transform the stadium’s surroundings into a world-class sports and entertainment hub, featuring a five-star hotel, cinema, and shopping complex.
