The Nigeria Football Federation has sacked the Super Falcons’ technical crew following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The decision comes after Nigeria’s disappointing qualification campaign and has triggered renewed concerns over the management and technical direction of the women’s national team.
The Falcons, despite being one of Africa’s most successful women’s football teams, have faced growing concerns over coaching, administration and preparation in recent years. The NFF’s decision is therefore expected to pave the way for a new technical structure as Nigeria looks to rebuild the team.
The federation is expected to announce further details on the replacement of the technical crew and its plans for the team going forward.
The development adds to mounting calls for greater accountability and reforms within Nigerian football, following recent criticism of the NFF over the country’s struggles in international competitions.
