Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-acclaimed Director-General of the phantom Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), has requested clearance to appear before the House of Representatives Committee investigating the alleged fake agency.
Speaking through his lawyer, Femi Falana, Adeyemi claimed he is being made a scapegoat and needs parliamentary clearance to testify, as he is currently standing trial on an eight-count charge at the Federal High Court.
The committee has ordered the Inspector-General of Police to produce Adeyemi within 48 hours. However, Falana told the panel that Adeyemi is willing to appear but requires clearance to avoid jeopardising his ongoing trial.
The House Committee is investigating how the PFIPC allegedly secured an office at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja and received a ₦1.32 billion allocation in the 2026 budget, despite questions over its legal status.
The committee has insisted on Adeyemi’s appearance and directed its clerk to communicate its resolution to the Inspector-General of Police.
