Dangote Industries Limited and Sinoma International Engineering Co., Ltd. have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding worth over $800 million (more than N1.1 trillion) to expand the Dangote Cement Plant in Itori, Ogun State, doubling its production capacity from 6 million to 12 million metric tonnes per annum.
When completed, Ogun State’s total cement production capacity will exceed 28 million metric tonnes per annum, with 24 million MTPA from Dangote Cement and 4.5 million MTPA from Lafarge. This will firmly cement Ogun State’s position as the highest cement-producing state and subnational region in Africa.
The agreement was signed by Aliko Dangote and Sinoma International Chairman Lin Zhong, strengthening the long-standing strategic partnership between both organisations. Beyond doubling capacity, the expansion will enable Dangote Cement to meet rising domestic demand while significantly boosting export capacity, creating more jobs, and deepening local value addition.
The investment is another vote of confidence in Governor Dapo Abiodun’s investment-friendly policies, infrastructure drive, and ease-of-doing-business reforms that have transformed Ogun State into Nigeria’s number one investment destination.
