The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons has raised concerns over the vulnerability of Oyo State to human trafficking, citing its proximity to the Benin Republic border as a major risk factor.

According to the agency, the border location makes Oyo susceptible to cross-border trafficking, with criminals exploiting the movement of people across the international boundary to carry out their operations.

NAPTIP has called for stronger collaboration among security agencies, community leaders, and residents to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable persons from exploitation. The agency also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspected cases of human trafficking to the appropriate authorities.

The agency’s warning highlights the growing concern over human trafficking in border states and the need for increased awareness and enforcement measures.
