Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu has paid tribute to Inspector John Jerome Abena, who lost his life during the operation to rescue abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State.
The late inspector was among the security personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, contributing to the successful rescue of 46 victims after 56 harrowing days in captivity. His bravery and dedication have been recognised by the Force leadership.
During a solemn ceremony, the IGP assured that the family of the fallen officer will not be neglected. He pledged that the Nigeria Police Force would stand by them and ensure they receive the support they deserve.
Inspector Abena’s sacrifice is a reminder of the dangers faced by security personnel in the fight against terrorism and kidnapping. May his soul rest in peace.
