FIFA has revealed the pots for the African draws ahead of the qualification series for the 2026 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Nigeria has been placed in Pot 1, along with Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco, Cameroon, Algeria, Egypt, and Mali.
The Super Eagles have earned a top seeding for the World Cup qualifying tournament due to their ranking as the sixth best team in Africa and 39th globally, according to the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday.
The group draw is scheduled to take place on July 12, 2023.
The participating countries will be drawn into nine groups, each consisting of six teams. The group winners will secure qualification for the tournament.
Furthermore, the four best teams finishing in second place will participate in a mini-tournament, with the winner earning a spot in the intercontinental play-off.
Following their disappointment of failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Eagles will be eager to ensure a better performance this time around.
