“Stop Replaying Our Worst Nightmare” – Family of Beheaded Oyo Teacher Begs Public to Stop Sharing Graphic Footage

May 19, 2026 1 min read

The family of Mr. Michael Oyedokun, the teacher brutally beheaded by kidnappers in Oyo State, has released an emotional plea to the public: stop circulating the graphic videos and pictures of his death.

While they appreciate the love and sympathy from Nigerians, the family says the constant reposting of the disturbing footage is deeply traumatizing, especially for his children who are currently writing their exams.

“Every time the videos appear online, it reopens the wounds,” the family stated, noting that elderly relatives, nieces, nephews, and loved ones are already struggling emotionally with the painful loss.

They humbly appealed that if people must post about the incident, they should blur the videos or use the official pictures released by the family instead.

Beyond the outrage and headlines, a family is trying to survive unimaginable pain while the internet keeps replaying their worst nightmare.
