A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) attached to Mopol 12 in Niger State, Isah Abdullahi, also known as Kunkuri, has died during a routine arms and ammunition audit at the unit.

The late officer served as Head of Armoury at Mopol 12, located within the B Division Police Command, Paikoro Road, Minna.

According to police sources, a team of detectives from Abuja was in Minna to conduct the annual audit of arms and ammunition when the incident occurred. During the exercise, auditors reportedly discovered that 13 AK-47 rifles and over 2,000 rounds of ammunition were missing or unaccounted for. The audit was said to have covered only the AK-47 section before the incident.

In connection with the matter, Inspector John Moses, attached to the Niger State Government House, was arrested. Investigators allege that Moses confessed that the deceased DSP supplied him with arms and ammunition, which were allegedly sold to bandits and hoodlums in Erena community, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, through his brother.

Operatives from the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) subsequently took suspects involved in the case to Abuja for further investigation.

The incident was confirmed by the Niger State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adamu Elleman, who said investigations were continuing.
