US LAWMAKER SAYS WASHINGTON NEARS SECURITY FRAMEWORK FOR NORTHEAST NIGERIA, MIDDLE BELT

A United States congressman, Rep. Riley Moore, says Washington is close to finalising a strategic security framework aimed at addressing the ISIS-linked ISWAP and Boko Haram factions operating in Nigeria’s Northeast, as well as violence in the Middle Belt. Moore made the statement upon his return to the United States, where he described the Middle Belt attacks as a “genocide against Christians by radical Fulani Muslims,” a characterisation that reflects his personal assessment following engagements during his visit.
