REP. RILEY MOORE RECOUNTS HORRIFIC TESTIMONIES FROM CHRISTIAN IDPs IN BENUE

United States Congressman Riley Moore has narrated harrowing testimonies from Christian survivors of violent attacks in Benue State, describing the scale of suffering as β€œunforgettable” after meeting dozens of displaced persons during his recent visit.

Moore said the internally displaced Christians, many of whom now live in overcrowded camps, shared stories of families wiped out, homes destroyed and communities overrun. One woman told him she was forced to watch as her husband and five children were killed before she narrowly escaped with her unborn child. Another woman recounted how her entire family was murdered and her baby was violently ripped from her womb.

A male survivor also described witnessing the killing of his family members and suffering permanent injury after being hacked with machetes. According to Moore, the accounts reflect a pattern of systematic targeting of Christian communities.

The congressman stated that over 600,000 Christians are currently living in IDP camps in Benue State alone, adding that no people should be driven from their ancestral land or forced to live under the fear of β€œgenocidal violence.”

Moore called for greater international attention to what he described as a deepening humanitarian and security crisis affecting Christian populations in Nigeria’s Middle Belt.
