Super Eagles vice-captain William Troost-Ekong has officially announced his retirement from international football, ending a significant chapter in Nigeria’s senior national team.
Troost-Ekong confirmed that he will no longer be available for selection, bringing his Super Eagles career to a close after earning 83 caps. The 30-year-old defender featured in five major tournaments for Nigeria, establishing himself as one of the team’s most dependable leaders over the past decade.
During his time with the national team, Troost-Ekong won three medals at the Africa Cup of Nations and played a central role in several key campaigns, including Nigeria’s AFCON runs and World Cup appearances.
His retirement marks the departure of one of Nigeria’s most experienced and influential defenders, known for his consistency, leadership, and commitment to the national colours.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is expected to release an official statement acknowledging his service to the Super Eagles.
