KANU WRITES TRUMP, ALLEGES GENOCIDE AGAINST JUDEO-CHRISTIANS IN SOUTHEAST NIGERIA

Detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has written a letter to former United States President Donald Trump, alleging a hidden genocide against Judeo-Christian communities in Nigeria’s South-East region.

In the letter dated November 6, 2025, Kanu accused the Nigerian government of waging a state-sponsored campaign of violence, mass arrests, and extrajudicial killings targeting his supporters and other residents in the region.

He urged Trump to order an independent investigation into the alleged atrocities and to impose sanctions under the Global Magnitsky Act on those responsible.

Kanu also referenced his controversial arrest and extraordinary rendition from Kenya in 2021, as well as the Federal Government’s alleged refusal to comply with court orders granting his release.

The Federal Government has repeatedly denied allegations of religious or ethnic persecution, maintaining that ongoing military operations in the region are targeted solely at armed groups threatening national security.
