The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, on Tuesday administered the oath of office to three newly elected members following their victory in the August 16, 2025 bye-elections conducted across parts of the country.

The swearing-in ceremony, which took place during plenary at the National Assembly, Abuja, marked the official inclusion of the new lawmakers into the 10th House of Representatives.

According to reports, the three legislators are among the five candidates elected to fill vacant seats that arose after the death of four serving members and the nomination of Dennis Idahosa as the running mate to Senator Monday Okpebholo in the 2024 Edo governorship election.

The House had, in 2024, lost four members to illness, including Ekene Adams (Kaduna), Isa Dogonyaro (Jigawa), and Olaide Akinremi (Oyo), while Oriyomi Onanuga passed away in 2025.

In response to the vacancies, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted bye-elections in the affected constituencies in August 2025, paving the way for the emergence of the newly sworn-in members.

Speaker Abbas, while welcoming them to the Green Chamber, urged the lawmakers to demonstrate commitment, integrity, and patriotism in the discharge of their duties, noting that their election was a call to serve their constituents and the nation at large.
