The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday resumed plenary after a 10-week recess, marking the official return of lawmakers to legislative duties at the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
The session, which was presided over by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, witnessed a significant turnout of senators, signaling a full return to legislative activities after the long break. Among those in attendance was Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who made her return to the Red Chamber representing Kogi Central Senatorial District.
Her presence drew attention from colleagues and observers, following heightened political activities in her state during the recess period.
During the plenary, the Senate President welcomed lawmakers back and urged them to rededicate themselves to the service of the nation, emphasizing the need for cooperation, unity, and renewed focus on national development.
The lawmakers are expected to begin deliberations on several pending bills, motions, and committee reports, as well as new executive communications from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the coming days.
The resumption marks the beginning of a new legislative phase following weeks of oversight engagements, constituency visits, and political consultations across the country.
