Award-winning Nigerian music star, Tiwatope Savage, popularly known as Tiwa Savage, has opened up about her fallout with Davido and addressed long-standing rumours about her relationship with Wizkid.
Speaking in an interview with The Breakfast Club on Tuesday, Savage shed light on her December 2023 clash with Davido and clarified that speculation about a romance with Wizkid was misplaced.
She explained that the rift with Davido began after she posted an Instagram story featuring Sophia Momodu, the singer’s first baby mama, noting that their friendship grew naturally because their children attend the same school.
“Our kids have been friends since they were one, and they’re 10 now. I’ve known David for years, but I also built a bond with Sophia. I didn’t know there were issues between them,” she said.
Savage recalled that at a social gathering, her greeting with Momodu was misinterpreted by Davido. “He felt I was taking sides, which wasn’t true. She’s simply the mother of my son’s friend,” she explained.
According to her, Davido misread the situation and later sent harsh messages, warning her to “be careful in Lagos.” Feeling threatened, she filed a police petition, stressing it was a precautionary step.
“I reached out to his family first, hoping to resolve it privately. When I got no response and the threats continued, I acted to ensure safety. It wasn’t about revenge,” she said.
Despite the incident, Savage insisted there was no lasting animosity. “I haven’t spoken to him since, but I have love for him. Our kids come first, and that’s what matters.”
On Wizkid, she dismissed speculation about a romantic past, saying: “I love and respect Wizkid, but it’s not about him.” She further clarified that a previous “embarrassing” secret relationship she once referenced involved another public figure, not Wizkid.
