President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that the establishment of state police has become unavoidable, insisting that decentralising the nation’s policing structure is critical to tackling insecurity across Nigeria.

The President made the remark while addressing security stakeholders, noting that the current centralised system has been overstretched and is unable to adequately respond to diverse security challenges across the country.

Tinubu maintained that a decentralised policing framework will strengthen community safety, improve intelligence gathering, and enhance swift response to threats at the local level.

He assured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to implementing reforms that will guarantee lasting peace and security nationwide.
