The Federal Government has introduced a new national curriculum to replace the old framework in Nigeria’s education system.

The Ministry of Education said the new curriculum is aimed at equipping students with relevant skills for today’s world, shifting focus from theory-based learning to practical knowledge and innovation.

Under the old curriculum, emphasis was placed largely on traditional subjects such as Mathematics, English, Basic Science, and Social Studies, with little room for entrepreneurship, vocational skills, or digital literacy.

The new curriculum introduces entrepreneurship, digital literacy, financial education, coding, and climate change awareness, alongside strengthened vocational and technical studies. It also promotes civic education, national values, and problem-solving skills.

The government said the reforms are designed to ensure Nigerian students are better prepared for self-reliance, employment, and global competitiveness.
