The Super Eagles have officially opened camp in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, as preparations intensify for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.

Vice-captain William Troost-Ekong and defender Bruno Onyemaechi were among the early arrivals on Monday, with officials confirming that more players are expected to check in within the next 24 hours. The arrivals are expected to include key stars from Europe and the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Head coach Finidi George is scheduled to hold the team’s first training session later today at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, where tactical drills and fitness routines will dominate the agenda in the opening days.

Nigeria faces crucial fixtures in the qualifying campaign, with the team under pressure to secure maximum points after a mixed start to the series. The Super Eagles will be aiming to strengthen their chances of reaching the 2026 World Cup to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Officials from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have assured that all logistics, including travel arrangements and training facilities, are in place to ensure smooth preparations for the national team.
