The Assistant Legal Adviser to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Eastern Marine Command, Mr. Nenfort Amos Esq., has formally acknowledged receipt of a petition submitted on 11th July 2025 by the Movement for the Protection of Iwere Homeland, Development and History (MPIHDH) Worldwide.

The petition, filed through the law firm of ADEROJOR OLOGHOJOBA & CO, Abuja, was addressed to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi; the Comptroller of NCS, Mr. Dim Chika; the Warri South Local Government Chairman, Hon. Agbateyinero Isaac Weyimi; and the Chairman of the Itsekiri Leaders of Thought (ILOT), Chief Edward Ekpoko.

In the petition, MPIHDH raised strong objections to the inclusion of a non-existent “Boluo-Ama Community” in a Notice to Quit issued to illegal occupants of Customs premises in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, dated 1st July 2025. The apex Itsekiri socio-cultural group stressed that the name had no basis in Warri South and demanded its immediate removal from all Customs records.

The group further warned that failure to withdraw the offensive name and re-issue a corrected notice would force them to seek redress in court.

Responding to the petition, Mr. Amos admitted that the Service had been misled into using the fake community name by unidentified persons. He tendered an apology on behalf of the Customs Service and confirmed that a corrected Notice to Quit had been issued on 11th August 2025 in line with the petition’s demands.

MPIHDH has since described the development as a “resounding victory” for the Itsekiri Nation, reaffirming its commitment to the defense of Itsekiri territorial integrity.

In a statement, the group declared:
“This reinforces our resolve to remain ever vigilant in defending the collective interests of our people, our homeland, and our revered throne. Not an inch of our ancestral land will ever be surrendered under any guise.”
