On Thursday, July 31, 2025, marked a significant milestone in regional development, as the pioneer leadership of the South West Development Commission (SWDC) convened its inaugural Executive Management Meeting.

The historic gathering brought together the newly appointed executive team to chart a clear roadmap for the Commission’s vision of driving inclusive growth, economic transformation, and sustainable development across the six South West states.

Held at the Commission’s temporary headquarters, the meeting focused on key strategic pillars; regional collaboration, infrastructure development, innovation, youth empowerment, and institutional strengthening. The executives reiterated their commitment to leveraging the region’s unique assets and heritage while fostering partnerships with both public and private sector players.

SWDC’s leadership emphasized the importance of data-driven planning and community engagement to ensure that projects are people-centered and impactful. They also pledged to prioritize transparency, accountability, and measurable outcomes as they embark on this new journey.

The Commission is expected to roll out its first set of intervention programs in the coming months, signaling a new era of coordinated regional development for the South West.
