A Chief Magistrate Court in Abuja has remanded social media influencer Ghali Isma’il in a correctional facility. Isma’il faces two charges of “Publication of false news with intent to cause offence against public peace” and “Inciting Disaffection to the Government.”
The court heard arguments from both the prosecution and defense before denying Isma’il’s bail application. Presiding Judge Ekpeyong Iyang ordered Isma’il’s remand until August 19th, 2025, for further hearing.
The allegations against Isma’il stem from online content posted on his social media platform, which authorities deemed problematic.
The case will continue on the scheduled date, allowing both sides to present their arguments.
