Flight Lieutenant Kafayat Omolara Sanni, a trailblazing Yoruba lady and Nigeria’s pioneering female fighter pilot, has made her country proud by clinching two prestigious awards at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC).

She emerged as the Best Allied Student and winner of the Best Assistant Commandant Paper at the esteemed institution in Accra, Ghana.

The awards ceremony, which drew top military brass and dignitaries from across Africa, took place on Friday during the college’s graduation ceremony. Flt. Lt. Sanni’s impressive feat is a testament to her dedication and perseverance, building on her remarkable journey that began in 2019 when she became the Nigerian Air Force’s first female fighter pilot after completing her training in the United States.

Since her historic achievement, Sanni has flown the Alpha Jet and served as a skilled instructor pilot on the Super Mushshak, mentoring younger pilots for the NAF. Her outstanding performance at GAFCSC highlights Nigeria’s growing leadership in regional defense and commitment to promoting gender inclusion in the armed forces.

This remarkable feat is a direct result of the Nigerian Air Force’s strategic investment in human capital development under the visionary leadership of Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar.
