Blogger Awikonko was left humiliated after a public confrontation with the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade I, at the Olowukuta Palace on June 3, 2025.

The blogger had been vocal about his discontent with the Alaafin, making false allegations of assault against the monarch.

In a dramatic turn of events, Awikonko was seen prostrating in front of the Alaafin, his mouth touching the ground, in a gesture of apology.

The blogger’s actions were a stark contrast to his previous behavior, where he had been using his YouTube channel to vilify the Alaafin.

Many onlookers witnessed the humiliating scene, and it is expected that the blogger’s actions will have consequences for his reputation.

The incident has sparked a mix of reactions, with some calling for Awikonko to reflect on his past behavior.

The blogger’s apology comes after weeks of insulting the Alaafin over allegations related to the deceased chief, Arohunfale, who had affiliations with Oyotunji African Village.

Awikonko’s actions had been seen as an attempt to create a rift between the Yoruba people, but his public apology may be a step towards healing the wounds.
