President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted a request to the National Assembly for approval of the N1.481 trillion budget for Rivers State for 2025.

The request was presented by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, during a plenary session.

The budget is necessary due to the Supreme Court’s nullification of the state’s 2025 budget and the current emergency rule, which has rendered the State Assembly unable to convene.

As a result, the National Assembly is constitutionally mandated to assume the legislative functions of the State Assembly.

The budget allocates N324 billion for infrastructure development, N166 billion for healthcare, N75.6 billion for education, and N31.4 billion for agriculture.

According to the President, the agricultural sector is expected to generate approximately 6,000 jobs under the proposed budget.

He urged lawmakers to expedite the passage of the budget to benefit the state.
