Yoruba daughter and a multidisciplinary legal practitioner from Ekiti, Omowumi Ogunrotimi,, has been awarded the prestigious 2025 Global Citizen Prize.
This esteemed award recognizes outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to addressing pressing global issues.
Ogunrotimi’s who is also the founder of the Gender Mobile Initiative, was honored alongside other prominent voices from around the world, including Valeriia Rachynska from Ukraine, Taily Terena from Brazil, and Lydia Amenyaglo from Ghana.
These individuals have garnered international recognition for their tireless efforts to drive transformative change.
The Global Citizen Prize acknowledges the awardees’ dedication to tackling critical challenges such as climate change, systemic barriers, girl empowerment, and more.
According to Global Citizen, a leading international advocacy organization focused on eradicating extreme poverty, this year’s recipients exemplify the power of youth-led initiatives in shaping a better future.
Ogunrotimi received the award at a summit held in New York City on April 30, 2025.
As part of the recognition, each awardee will benefit from a year-long support program and a cash grant to further their work through their respective organizations.
