President Bola Tinubu held a closed-door meeting with the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudasiru Obasa, and other lawmakers from the state at Aso Rock.

The meeting took place on Wednesday, with the lawmakers arriving in a Coaster bus around 2:00 pm local time.

Mojisola Meranda, who was recently elected Speaker, arrived with her colleagues, while Obasa arrived separately around 3:00 pm.

The meeting comes amid a leadership crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Obasa was briefly removed from office, and Meranda was elected as his replacement. However, Obasa has since returned to his position as Speaker.

The crisis is linked to a dispute over the purchase of N5 billion worth of vehicles for lawmakers.

Obasa had approved the purchase, but Meranda modified the plan and acquired the vehicles locally at a reduced cost.

The issue has sparked tensions between Obasa and Meranda, with Obasa challenging the legitimacy of his removal in court.

The meeting with President Tinubu may be an attempt to resolve the crisis and find a way forward for the Lagos State House of Assembly.

However, the details of the discussion remain unknown, as the meeting was held behind closed doors.
