The Alliance for Yoruba Democratic Movement (AYDM) has endorsed Oba Abimbola Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo, urging all Yoruba people worldwide to support him.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, AYDM praised Owoade’s background and pedigree, saying he is the best candidate to meet the spiritual, physical, economic, and political aspirations of all Yoruba people.

“We call on those who have gone to court to withdraw the cases. We call on Oyo Mesi to embrace peace and work with the new Alaafin,” group said.

The coalition warned that opposing the new Alaafin will incur the wrath of the Yoruba Nation.

AYDM described Owoade as a man of integrity, highly educated in Yoruba tradition and heritage, humble, and versatile on Yoruba matters.

“He has a comprehensive program of transformation of Yorubaland for the good of humanity,” the coalition added.

Notably, AYDM mentioned that IFA was consulted to pick the Alaafin, following the timeless tradition of Yoruba people.

“The position of Alaafin of Oyo is not only significant to Oyo, it is a status that signifies and upholds Yoruba political history in the most remarkable manner,” AYDM said.

AYDM’s coalition comprises prominent groups, including O’odua Nationalist Coalition (ONAC), Agbekoya Solidarity, South West Professionals (SOWPROF), and many others.
