Ekiti State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (EK-RAAMP) has opened 32 bids from different construction firms for the construction of three roads totaling 35.36km in the state.
The roads include the 15.10km Ido-Ipere-lludun road, 4.53km Abe Cocoa-Ijarigbin road, and 15.73km Agbado-|jisun-Ipole-Ise road.
According to the State Project Coordinator, Hon. Sunday Adunmo, the three roads are critical to the food security agenda of the Biodun Oyebanji-led administration, hence their prioritization.
Adunmo assured the bidders of a level playing field, stating that the project would evaluate all 32 bids without favoritism.
“The successful bidders must deliver quality jobs, as the project will not accept shoddy work from any contractor,” Adunmo emphasized.
The Director-General of the State Roads Fund (SRF), Mrs. Folu Ogunlayi, urged the prospective winners to ensure that Ekiti people get value for the government’s investments in the project.
“Ekiti people are eager for roads that will stand the test of time,” she said.
The bid opening exercise was commended by the representative of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Engr. Samuel Ogundare, who noted that the transparency of the process would boost the bidders’ confidence.
The Executive Director of CESFORD, a Non-Governmental Organisation, Mr. Eyitayo Fabunmi, also praised the fairness of the process, stating that all bidders had their bids confirmed before they were opened.
Some of the bidders expressed satisfaction with the process, admitting that it was transparent and fair.
