The Lagos State Government has strongly condemned an unprovoked attack on officers of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) by personnel of the Nigerian Army in Yaba.

According to a statement by Honourable Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the attack occurred while KAI officers were carrying out their lawful duties.

However, the situation was brought under control following the swift intervention of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General T. Lagbaja, and the Director of Chaplain Services, Lt. Col. T.E. Ogbonyomi.

The Lagos State Government commended the military leaders for their prompt action, which reinforced the principle that military personnel are subject to civil authority within their jurisdictions.

Wahab reaffirmed the state Government’s commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment, emphasizing that such acts of violence would not be tolerated.

The incident involved personnel under the directive of Major Adebiyi and Captain Gowon.

The Lagos State government remains dedicated to upholding safety and sanitation standards across the state through its #CleanerLagos initiative.
