The Lagos State Environment and Security Taskforce conducted an operation at Cubana Club, seizing 28 number plates of vehicles parked illegally and obstructing traffic flow along Sobo Arobiodu road, GRA Ikeja.

This move aims to enforce Lagos’ traffic rules and maintain order on the state’s roads.

According to Lagos State Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab, the operation occurred at 1 a.m. on Saturday.

The task force targeted vehicles violating traffic regulations, particularly those blocking the free flow of traffic.

The statement reads, β€œThe Lagos State Environmental/Security Taskforce team today at about 0100hrs (1a.m) carried out a night enforcement operation, during which number plates of vehicles parked illegally in front of Cubana (Night Club) obstructing the free flow of traffic along Sobo Arobiodu road, GRA Ikeja, were untied and confiscated accordingly.

β€œ28 number plates of vehicles caught violating the Lagos State traffic regulations at the location were all removed.

The statement further revealed offenders will be charged in court.

It added, β€œOwners of the offending vehicles will all be charged to court.”

This isn’t the first time the Lagos Government has taken measures to address traffic congestion. In 2016, the state clarified its traffic law enforcement methods, emphasizing the removal of number plates over towing vehicles .

This approach aligns with international best practices and focuses on deterring violations rather than generating revenue.
