In celebration of the annual Amole Festival, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo, has ordered the closure of markets, shops, and stalls in Akure.
This directive, in line with the tradition and culture of Akureland, aims to preserve the age-long customs of the community.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Adeyeye Michael, only pharmacy shops will be exempt from the closure during the festival.
“Without mincing words and for the sake of emphasis, we wish to inform residents that no shop, market, stalls, community or quarter within the Akure metropolis will be exempted under any guise from observing this festival.
“Consequently, we urge traditional rulers and quarter chiefs to ensure observance of this festival within their domain.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the festival will not in any way restrict human and vehicular movement.
“The palace wishes to appreciate the state government and security agencies for their understanding and cooperation in ensuring the preservation of our revered culture and tradition.
The palace emphasized that all shops, markets, and stalls within the Akure metropolis must observe the festival, with no exceptions.
