British-Nigerian Actress, Laura Lake Adebisi, has said the ideological differences between the Northern and Southern part of Nigeria are enough reasons for the country not to exist.

The British-Nigerian actress, has ignited a heated debate with her assertion that Nigeria should never have been a unified country.

In a viral video, she cited the deep-seated ideological differences between the North and South as justification for her stance.

Adebisi criticized the British government for its role in Nigeria’s formation, alleging that they “empowered” the Nigerian government to prevent Biafra’s secession and continue exploiting the country’s resources.

Adebisi said, “The footprints of colonialism are over Nigeria. Nigeria should have never been a country! The difference in ideology from the northern side to the southern side is insane.

“When the Eastern side tried to secede and form Biafra, the ex-colonialists [Britain] were like, no, we don’t want that. So they instead empower Nigeria to crush that country.

“They were like, we want you guys to stay like this so we can continue to pillage and take all of your resources.

“So the footprints of colonialism are still all over Nigeria. It’s in the shape of the country. It’s on the map.”

Adebisi’s statement has added fuel to the ongoing debate about Nigeria’s future and the calls for restructuring or secession.
