Tragedy in Ogun state as 16-year-old school girl, Habeebah Akinsanya, was found brutally murdered on Sunday morning, despite her father paying a ransom of one million naira to her kidnappers.

The schoolgirl was abducted on Friday in Mile 6, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area, and her body was discovered with multiple machete wounds.

Habeebah’s father, Aremu Akinsanya, a member of the So-Safe Corps, had reported the kidnapping to the Kemta Police Station and paid the ransom in desperation to save his daughter’s life.

However, the kidnappers reneged on their promise and killed Habeebah, leaving her body to be discovered by her father.

The kidnappers even had the audacity to demand a second ransom from Mr. Akinsanya after killing his daughter. Habeebah, a student of Lisabi Grammar School, was set to begin her SS3 class this month and would have turned 17 in October.

However, the spokesperson of the police in the state, Omolola Odutola, said the incident was reported to the police as a missing person case until the girl was later found dead.

She said the police were still investigating the incident.
