M’City avenge FA cup defeat, claims Community Shield glory against Man-United

In a derby encounter at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday, Manchester City exacted it revenge for their FA Cup defeat against Manchester United, winning the Community Shield 7-6 in a penalty shootout.

The match ended 1-1 after regular time, with a late equalizer by Bernardo Silver which gave the match a surge of excitement in the final 10 minutes.

Alejandro Garnacho who first broke the deadlock at the 82nd minute of the game, giving United the lead, but Bernardo Silva swiftly equalized in 89minute sending the match into a penalty shootout.

The intense shootout went into sudden death, where City emerged victorious. Jonny Evans’ missed penalty, chipping the ball over, paved the way for Manuel Akanji to seal the win for City.

This victory marks a sweet revenge for Manchester City, who had suffered a defeat at the hands of their rival in the FA Cup.

The Community Shield victory sets the tone for the upcoming season, showcasing City’s resilience and determination.

The match was a testament to the fierce rivalry between the two Manchester giants, with both teams displaying skill and passion. M’City’s triumph will boost their confidence, while United will look to regroup and come back stronger in the coming 2024/25 season.
