The Lagos State Government on Wednesday has announced the successful conclusion of it one month-long agricultural entrepreneurship training program.

The training aimed at equipping youths with advanced skills in agricultural entrepreneurship across the twenty Local Government areas in the state.

In a statement by the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development,
Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, said the initiative is part of the State Government’s broader strategy to address the issue of an aging farming population by introducing modern agricultural techniques to a new generation of skilled individuals.

“Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his dedication to improving food security throughout Lagos State,” Dr. Agbaje noted.

“The administration is focused on enhancing food production and promoting sustainable livelihoods, which are vital for the state’s future growth.”

He added, “The agricultural training program plays a crucial role in this strategy by preparing a new generation of farmers who are proficient in modern farming practices.”

The initiative supports the Governor’s broader objectives of increasing food production and ensuring economic sustainability within the community.

Alongside the agricultural training, similar initiatives are being rolled out across various departments, including the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, the Office of Rural Development, WAPA, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

These programs aim to offer a well-rounded support system for youth development and empowerment.

Dr. Agbaje urged all young people to engage actively in these programs, stressing that these opportunities are essential for personal growth and career advancement.

He also pointed out the role of federal student loans in creating job opportunities, highlighting the importance of financial assistance in boosting employment prospects.

“This holistic approach reflects the Lagos State Government’s commitment to modernizing agriculture and supporting its youth, thereby advancing the overall economic and social development of the state,” Dr. Agbaje concluded.
