April 10, 2024 1 min read

Many persons have been feared dead after a commercial bus plunged into a lagoon on the Third Mainland Bridge on Wednesday.

The incident unfolded on Eid-el-Fitri, a day of celebration for Nigerian Muslims, marking the end of Ramadan.

Eyewitness Akinola Adeniyi recounted the harrowing event around 11:30 am, describing how a vehicle travelling from Iyana-Oworo to the Island suddenly plunged into the lagoon due to excessive speeding by the driver.

Emergency response teams, including personnel from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Police, swiftly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations.

The tragic accident has caused a traffic gridlock on the bridge.
